Sustainability

All products made in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility contain recycled content. We recycle or reclaim our processed water, clay, unfired tile “greenware”, and fired tile, reintroducing them into the production process. We even pull the dust from the air around the presses and throughout the factory and recycle that into the body. On average, annual recycled material is about 500,000 lbs. of fired tile, 200,000 lbs. of clay, 764,000 lbs. of dust, 285,000 lbs. of unfired greenware and over 1.6m gal. of water.

All products made in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility receive GREEENGUARD Certification. This certification follows strict criteria considering safety factors for sensitive individuals such as children and the elderly ensuring the product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Building Rating System.

All Florida Tile products manufactured in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility are Green Squared Certified®. Florida Tile was among the first to earn TCNA – Green Squared® certification.

This multi-attribute sustainability standard is for tiles and tile installation materials. It uses the transparency and consensus of the ANSI® process combined with third party certification to evaluate, validate, and communicate products that have a positive impact on the environment and society.

Covered by the standards are environmental product characteristics, environmental product manufacturing, raw material extraction, end of product life management, progressive corporate governance, and innovation.
